Hello, Friends and Family of W10! The nicer weather has certainly been bringing in more activity at W10. Even as I write this I am hearing not only Scarlett flying around but several other planes coming and going. I also heard a very vocal family of coyotes out on or near the field early this morning so continue to take caution of any coyote or deer crossing. Saturday Social @ W10 Be sure to come out this Saturday, April 1st (really, not a joke) at 10 am to Seabiscuit bakery for some yummy treats, coffee and good conversations with fellow aviators. W10 Political Update Thank you so much for all the letters written and support from the W10 community. This is a slow process so even though public comments ended on March 28th, we won't know too much about whether the project gets added to the county's TIP (Transportation Improvement Program) until October but all the commissioners and the Public Works department, definitely heard our voices without a doubt. The road association will continue to attend meetings and make comments as much as possible to try to get the county to help Crawford road out. As the North end of Crawford Road goes through the process, I will be starting to shift my focus back to trying to get compatibility protections in place for W10, as well as AJ Eisenberg (KOKH) and the Camano Island airfield (13W). I will keep everyone posted with the progress and will let you know when I need help. Cross your fingers that they will just understand that it's the right thing to do as well as keep them compliant with GMA requirements regarding airports. Here's what the county has done right recently - besides asking for protections against incompatible encroachment, we have been trying to get the county to follow FAA notification laws when someone does build nearby. They just recently created an overlay on a map of the areas that would need to comply with the notification laws. We have so far been notified of 2 permit applications and we were able to provide feedback. We will conintue to monitor and see how the process works and to try to provide input regarding safety, noise, compatibility and other considerations for new structures around W10. W10 Cessna 150 Flight SimulatorWe have so great volunteers lined up for this project but there is always room for more. Sky has not been home to launch the project yet so if you are still interested there is still time to join in. If interested please email [email protected] and we will get a group together and start orientation and planning on this project. We are hoping for some folks in the group with some decent X-Planes experience, but interest is more important if you are willing to learn. Once it is up and running we will make another announcement for availability. Long term goal is to get it certified, but we will want to work with it a bit first and ensure it is in a stable hardware/software configuration before we go for certification.
