Saturday Social
First off, a reminder that our monthly Saturday Social at The Muk is this coming Saturday April 6th at 10am. We expect to have a controller from NAS Whidbey join us this month to talk about and answer any questions about operation in their airspace. That should be interesting, and we appreciate their time in coming down to join us.

W10 Information Booth
We are building a small information booth now, that we hope to have finished soon.  For the near-term, this will be located in front of the red shipping containers at the north end of the field, and we will start populating it with information for locals and visitors.

Runway Condition Survey
WSDOT has released their most recent airport pavement condition report.  You can review all of the details and many summary plots from their website here or read the report directly here.  We are happy to report that the runway pavement condition here at W10 scored a 91%. This puts us in the top 10 in the state(!) and should mean many years of continued service with routine maintenance. The report is not all rosy though, and indicates that the state airport infrastructure will need significant investment in the coming years to remain effective.  You can see a report on this study from Q13 here.  It is also interesting to note that according to the study:
  • The overall pavement area of the ninety-eight airports included in the WSDOT study is 152.5 million square feet - the equivalent of a two-lane highway stretching from Seattle to San Diego.
  • If all eligible maintenance and repair projects were to be funded at the airports (excluding SeaTac, Spokane, and Tri-cities), an approximate total of $395.4 million would be needed over the next 7 years.
Blue Skies!
