Hello from W10 and Happy Spring! Saturday Social Sorry for the late notice, but the monthly Saturday Social at The Muk is tomorrow Saturday June 1st at 10am. Nothing formal planned, just come by and hang out with your fellow aviators. Save the Date NAS Whidbey Open House. NAS Whidbey is having an Open House on June 22nd. If there are a couple of people interested in going, we can arrange a carpool. AC1 Ryan Leonard who talked to us in April has offered a special tour for W10 folks of the control tower. Please RSVP with us, and we will get names to him prior to the event and coordinate. B-17 at Skagit The Commemorative Air Force B-17 Flying Fortress named “Sentimental Journey “ will be visiting the Skagit Regional Airport in Burlington, WA from: Monday, June 24th, 2019 (arrival time approximately 12:00 p.m.) through end of day Sunday June 30th, 2019. Mowing Season and Passport Program This lovely warm weather means mowing season is in full swing. Don’t be surprised if you see us riding around trying to keep the weeds under control. The kiosk has also made some strong headway this past week. Just a little trim work (and a second coat of paint) and we will call it finished soon, and start the work of posting information and keeping the bulletin board updated inside. The passport stamp is in the mailbox located inside in case anyone is looking for it. We have been getting great feedback from new visitors that are coming into W10 because of the Passport Program, and are having fun with it. We encourage folks to get out and explore the other airports in the state to see what they have to offer as well. www.FlyWashington.org Gratitude to the W10 Community We are relieved to have heard from the surviving passenger of the tragic accident that occurred in January. She is still healing but is planning on getting back to work soon. She wanted to thank the W10 community for the support. We continue to wish her the best. Scarlett Hats The red Cessna 150 named Scarlett that is often seen doing flying training duty at W10 with the South Whidbey Flying Club has a fundraiser in progress. A cartoon version of Scarlett can now be found on caps. Check in with Fred if you would like one of these one-of-a-kind caps and support the flying club at the same time! Garden Club Last months 'garden club' was great. We removed a bunch of Scotch Broom from the field, and then fired up the fire pit, cooked some hot dogs, and Dave gave some airplane rides. Thanks to those that came out. We will do another something in June, but we will announce the details later. Expect it to be a Sunday later in the month. Up to our eyeballs in Scotch Broom! WSDOT Aircraft Registration Reminder Washington State Department of Transportation, Aviation Devision requested that we forward the following to our flying community here, regarding your aircraft registration: Just a friendly reminder from WSDOT regarding aircraft registration.
