Friends and Family of W10, Gotta start this newsletter off with a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Dan Hagen for getting his PPL this past month! He did a fantastic job and we hope to see Dan soaring above W10 for years to come. To see a short clip of Dan's successful return to W10 click here. Following right along is Gabriel Schiavone. Congratulations Gabe for successfully completing your first solo trip with Scarlett! Keep up the hard work. Instructors Corner Here's another great tidbit to ponder from the desk of Dave Bennett, AGI. Click Here for Dave's quick thoughts on quarterly tailwinds. If you have questions related to aviation, or if you have any suggestions about other educational opportunities, you can reach Dave Bennett at [email protected]. Ground School Resumes @ W10Get ready, set some time aside, and join the 2022 Fall session of Ground school taught by our very own Dave Bennett, AGI. We are going to start getting the roster going but at this point we just need to get an idea of how many are interested and get you on a distribution list to continue to send information in preparation for this Fall session. Please contact Dave Bennett at [email protected] and let us know if you want to get a strong base of aviation knowledge whether you want to prep for you PPL written test or just learn more about general aviation. GA in the News For those of you that recall, W10 participated in an international training exercise using GA volunteers on June 18th that was called the "Thunder Run". It was a great experience for all that participated. Our scenario at the time was assuming our region was hit by a large earthquake. Earthquakes are not the only scenario where GA resources can make a huge difference and save lives. Check out this article out of the Ukraine and the critical role that GA volunteers from around the world are participating. Click Hereto read the article. Scarlett and the South Whidbey Flying Club If you too, want to be in our local newsletter and get your Private Pilot's License then be sure to check in with Fred to find out how to become a pilot. Throughout these fabulous summer days, you are likely to see a local celebrity breezing through the skies. Keep an eye out for a little Cessna 150, named Scarlett, taking off with a future pilot in the left seat. Scarlett is a dream maker, career builder, and a source of pure joy for many people so W10 feels privileged to be called her home. Of course, what is Scarlett without Fred Lundahl, founder of the South Whidbey Flying Club. If you are interested in aviation and would like to know more about learning to fly or about the South Whidbey Flying Club, contact Fred Lundahl via [email protected]. W10 Projects
